Dan Dediu est chercheur au département Langage et Génétiques de l'Institut Max Planck de Psycholinguistique, à l'Université de Nimègue. Il a un doctorat en linguistique. Ses thèmes de recherche sont l'intéraction entre la biologie, la génétique, le langage et la parole.
