Séance du séminaire Louis-Pasteur
Cells are a collection of machines with a wide range of functions. To
understand their mechanisms, a synergistic combination of experiments
and computer simulations is required. A description of some underlying
concepts concerning the proteins involved in such machines and their
motions will be presented. An important element is that the
conformational changes that are required for machine function are built
into the structure by evolution. To illustrate the ideas, some specific
biomolecular machines and how they work will be described.
